Burger Seeker found Teddy's website online and forwarded it to me before i made it to the island. Apon my arrival i had done some research and found the Teddy's had made it to every top burger list i found regarding the island of Oahu. Teddy's made the list.

Teddy's is a fast food joint and they aren't really trying to be anything more. Its also a chain with at least 5 different locations in Hawaii. They offer chargrilled chuck burgers in singles doubles and triples. Combo meals are offered as are a number of toppings to customize your burger. And the burger was......
Image Image ....well, it looked promising. The bun looks fresh almost like ciabatta, the special Teddy sauce was dripping down the multilayered patty and the lettuce tomato onion combo added a good ballance of color. Unfortunitely this burger doesn't deliver. ImageImage Even though I ordered mine med rare, it came med well. The meat was chewy and had only the slightest taste of the grill. The bun lacked flavour and the sauce was a wattered down honey mustard. The double patty held together well, and there was a serious amount of juice flowing from this thing. Image Image But its basically an above average fast food chain. The fries are frozen, the meat is of average quality and the setting consists of cheap plastic booths and a half accomplished retro 50's decor.

I think that it's definitely a nostalgic thing to smell the inviting scent of burgers being grilled... perhaps it brings back memories of Fourth of July barbeques with the family, Sunday grillings, or even just the carnal knowledge that omnivores and carnivores alike share. I've eaten a Teddy's burger once and I thought it to be a pretty good burger. I ordered mine as rare as they could legally make it, which meant that it was served to me just slightly rarer than normal. I asked for some avocado. The whole thing cost me 7 dollars, give or take some spare change. I'm glad that I took it home to eat it because the burger's juices did indeed runneth over and I would have made the biggest a$# out of myself by trying to consume the thing in public (especially having just woken up at 3PM on a saturday and still not being quite 'coherent.')
I had no desire to test their fries. They resembled the fries at In and Out, lifeless shoestrings... I like my fries thick and hearty, with gentle crispness to the edges...
But this is a burger forum, and I digress...
