Blue 9 is good burger, and it's made with fresh ground beef griddled in it's own grease (which we love) BUT the place is always dirty it seems. Of course this never bothers me for some reason at the Corner Bistro, but it's the scuffed white walls and the constantly malfunctioning AC that makes me nutz. Also, the spicy 'Russian' dressing is strange and asking for salmonella...

i love the Blue 9 burger, greasy double wrapper and all. i always get the grilled onions and load that bad boy up with extra sauce, but the sugar that's in it (mango-chili?) always gives me a bit of the ick after i scarf it down. highly recommend grilled onions, but i would also recommend not wearing your good threads and bringing extra napkins.
lovely, greasy, slutty!!!

MY first visit to blue 9 burger had me wondering how close to In and Out greatness could this place really get. The answer is pretty damn close. Its fresh, greasy and simply a tasty burger. There isn't enough meat per patty to cook these things too rare but if you get a little pink inside the texture is nice and soft. Fit with crunchy lettuce, grilled onion (by request), special sauce, and a classic seedless bun that does a good job of holding a double patty together. The fresh pattys are cooked on a grittle which fries the burger in its own grease, always a nice way to cook the thin stlye patty. Just like In and Out I always order the double double at blue 9 for a single patty isnt enough meat, but stack two of these fresh babys on top of each other and your good to go.
The fries here are nice as well. They use fresh potatos that come out nice and golden brown. The mango chili dipping sauce is pretty damn good as well. The decor of blue 9 has always puzzled me for its just plain bad. How hard is it to create comfortable yet simple burger den? Its walls are come with the dirty white look, and the seating reminds me of bad college caffeteria. These guys need to learn a thing or two from Burger Joint if they want to take this place to the next level. Regardless blue 9 is still a fan favorite.

If not for the price, I wouldn't really give it a B - although for a semi-fast food burger it was ok, but then again how many ok burgers are already out there? And in a city like New York, it takes a bit more than good location (near NYU) solid temperature meat and a good bun to make it into the big leagues.

Although Blue 9 is a clear step up from the Fast Food Giants, I was not overly impressed. As others have mentioned, the deocr is horrible...its amazing how dirty the place looks even right after it just opened. The burger I had was barely seasoned (if at all), and the thousands island dressing definately tasted funky. Although I requested grilled onions, I got a pile (and I do mean a pile) of raw yellow onions....way to much for a small patty.
I did however think the fries were delicious, however the Mango sauce was too sweet and did nothing for me.
With so many great burger in the City, I would pass on this one.
