you know it... this guy was so yummy, i had to do the line all over again for a second one. my first was cooked medium rare and I went back for a rare... both were cooked perfectly, which was right on due to the fact that this place was swamped with burger fans.

there are other burger places in nYc that have become too popular for their own good... and aside from the overcrowded nature of certain peak hours at BJ... there is maybe only a couple establishments that i have been to that serves a well priced burger as good or better than this.

BJ serves a burger that looks messy, but carries with it all the tastee elements that made my burger delicious. i didn't bother with fries, but a pitcher of sam adams was a nice co-pilot. i love soft potato buns like BJ's, as it tends to wrap itself around the mess within much better than a fancy bun (which can tend to be stale at times). If i had to give you a reason to not go, that would be so i don't have to wait in line behind you... even though there can be a nutty crowd, i loved everyminute of my time with my burger despite the wait.

A much anticipated trip to the mecca of fast food, Midtown Style.

Finally making my way towards the unasumiing corner of the glossy Le Parker Meridian out stretches a line to get into this little burker shack. The decor resembles a college dorm cafe. Faux wood and brike, movie posters randomly hung on the walls, instantly one is transported into a burger den of sorts. A place to celebrate americas cullinary jewel: The Hamburger.

Unfortunitely, my burger wasn't cooked Med Rare as I like it. It was clearly a medium temperature which is always going to frustrate a burger eater. Selecting the Works along with my patty created a collection of delicious burger flavours. The assebly was off though. Too much lettuce, and the pickles kept falling out. The fresh patty's are constantly coming off the grill giving the burgers a lovely charred flavour. On a better day I could see this burger recieving a higher mark, but today it gets a B+.

Great Milkshakes, week fries, nice price and good music. With out a doubt, one hell of a Burger Joint. Ill be visiting this one again.

Just wanted to comment on my follow up visit to Burger Joint. This time I went Rare, and well they cooked it rare, but it was damn good. I dont prefer a burger this rare, but the fact that this baby was still so delicious is a true test its quality. The proportion of everything was perfect this time, it clearly earns an A-. Goldburger, sorry for the doubt.

I can't believe I have only been twice, this time I went for lunch on a school day... and it seems so did everyone else. Four work mates and I decided to hit the BJ for a late Friday lunch... got there around 1:30 thinking we would miss the lunch crunch, nope. The line was well out the door and began to bend around the curtain in the lobby. We debated going somewhere else, perhaps a few blocks away... not going to happen, we stuck it out and waited.

The wait to order was probably 15-minutes, not a problem at all, and well worth the wait. We also managed to snag a booth next to the small kitchen area where the flame grilled burgers are born, and beside one of the walls tagged by famous and non-famous patrons. Sweet.

I went med.rare cheese, with the works hold the mustard. On my first visit, I was joined by Mr. , and he mentioned the mustard is a bit too much and takes away from the meat... I loved my burger the first time, so I wasn't going to risk burger taint this time. Not that I don't like mustard, but preferably on my hot dogs. this time, one fan with us went the works, and admitted that the mustard was a bit much... so see for your self, but I skip it.

the meat at BJ is A grade, and at 5-oz, it makes a great balance with the classic add-ons. Perfectly ripe tomato, crinkle cut pickle chips, lettuce, raw red onion, condiments (of your choosing) and soft bun. The cheese I felt is almost non existent but didn't take away form the burger bliss I was experiencing.

My med.rare was a bit over cooked this time, but that didn't bother me, as the meat was fresh, loose, juicy, and damn tasty. There are a few better burgers in this city, but the price ($6 for a cheeseburger with the works), the fact you can get a pitcher of beer, and the odd location (hole in a fancy hotel) makes BJ a true star in the ny burger scene.

Nothing like sitting at your desk the rest of the day smelling like heaven.

New member here...one of the highlights of my recent rip to NY was the Burger Joint, which I found out about after scanning TripAdvisor.com (it was one of the highest rated restaurants at the time). I had a very good burger there, but I must say I was a bit disappointed...it wasn't THAT great. I gave it a B+.

I love the experience of taking strangers to the Burger Joint, there's always something very nice about going through the swank Parker Meridian Lobby into this smoky greasy dive. The burger joint uses good but lean meat, but adds almost no seasoning. Lean meat just doesn't have the umph fatty meat imparts and without a little onion, garlic or something similar in the mix you get a fairly bland burger.

Anyone who dares question the legitimacy of this place need only go take a glance at the line that starts forming at 11:30AM on Fridays. No joke, they put up a stanchion to help the line form in an orderly manner. Anyone who works in midtown has had one of those "oh god, i need to go to BC so I can get through this crappy day" burgers. It's like instant sunshine in your mouth. This tiny little hole in the wall joint sits amid the midtown glitterati of one of the nicest hotels, with nothing but a neon burger hiding in the corner behind large curtains so as to alert us of it presence (besides the smoky goodness coming from that direction). Once inside, the oasis of the hotel turns to mayhem. Lots of shuffling around, people hovering over other people's tables to anticipate calling it theirs, you think you are going to be there a long time. But no. Big surprise. The people that work here are hustlers. No nonsense, pack 'em in, move 'em out attitude. I appreciate the fast pace being a no-nonsense New Yorker myself. The five (at least ) minutes that you are waiting to get to the front of the line, practice what you are going to order and get it right. You can say what you want as fast as possible and these guys will still get it right. Medium rare cheeseburger the works. Perfect every time. Don't wear your good clothes cuz no matter what, you will dribble some juicy goodness down your face at one point. Perfectly thin red onion slices and pickle chips mingle with ketchup, mustard AND mayo (trust me, it really works here), one good slice of tomato, lettuce, potato bun which holds up way better than you could ever dream, patty is the perfect size, just enough to fill you (definitely not a dinner burger). The thing that really gets me about this burger is the smokiness. It's so dead on perfect, not too overwhelming but distinctly there. Burger joint - no nonsense, no frills, all about the burger and it works. Solid A-.
