City Hall delivered one of BurgerClubs finest outings to date. For a restaurant that offers a lot more than hamburgers, City Hall takes a lot of pride in doing burgers well. Sparing no expense, CH bakes their own buns and mixes 4 different kinds of meat into the massive 10 oz. patties. That's right folks over half a pound of meat!
This monster of a burger comes to the table in a beautiful presentation that allows the diner to construct the burger themself. The lettuce is a quarter head of Iceburg thats served along with a slice of Beefsteak tomato and red onion. Ketchup, Mustard and Mayo all came out along with the burgers. The Sharp Chedder Cheese comes golden brown on top, and drips down the side of the patty. The salty crisp mini steak fries were also served in a separate bowl.
Biting into this baby is a bit of a challenge which would lead me to its major flaw: its just too big. Personally, I like a 4 to 6 oz patty and occasional I can get into a big pub style half pounder, but 10oz is just too much. On the bright side, the meat was cooked to a perfect pink when ordered medium rare. The blend of sirloin, brisket, short rib, and chuck was rich and smooth in flavor but it had a little too much rock salt on the exterior. The patty held a fair amount of juice but was not overwelming and held together nicely in the hand made bun. The bun looks almost bagel like and came buttered and topped sparingly with poppy seeds. Over all this is a beautiful burger that simply needs to be cut down in size.
The service at City hall was excellent. They were very accomodating to our band of burger loving crazies and even gave us some complimentary curried onion strings which were original and delicious. The chef "my namesake" was a gentleman and came out to make sure we were happy with our burger experience. City hall is truly a class act. Maybe next time I can convince them to shrink my patty down a few oz's.
